TAL RIVA THEODOROU
Currently Principal Viola at the Pori Sinfonietta (Finland) and member of the "West-Eastern Divan Orchestra".
Born in Israel, Tal started to play the violin at the age of 5. At the age of 12 she already played as a concertmaster and concert soloist in various youth orchestras.
In 2000, Tal decided to replace her violin with the viola and began her studies at the Jerusalem Music Academy under professor David Chen.
In 2004 she finished her bachelor’s degree with honours and continued her studies at the “Hanns Eisler” academy in Berlin in the class of Tabea Zimmermann. She also attended masterclasses with Hartmut Rhode, Tatjana Masurenko, Alban Berg Quartett, Amadeus Quartett, Ysaÿe Quartett and the Artemis Quartett.
During her studies, Tal was supported by several scholarships such as, AICF foundation, Baremboim-Said foundation and Yehudi Menuhin “Live Music Now”. In 2014 Tal Riva Theodorou completed her master’s degree in chamber music under professor Eberhart Feltz at the “Hanns Eisler” academy.
Since 2004 she has been a member of the "West-Eastern Divan Orchestra" under the baton of Maestro Daniel Barenboim. She is also actively collaborating with orchestras such as: Finnish National Opera, Finnish Radio Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonik.
