In order to disseminate chamber music and promote the groups that perform it, the Valencia International Music Festival is calling this competition with the following BASES:

1. - PARTICIPANTS

- Any chamber group with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 members whose average age does not exceed 30 years prior to the publication of the bases may take part in the competition: on May 10, 2024.

- The Contest is a separate activity from the Music Courses and you do not need to be enrolled in the Courses to participate in the Contest.

- A musician may not be registered and participate in several groups.

- Groups that need percussion instruments, will take care of the instruments.

- The room will have a tuned half-tail piano.

- The winning group of the previous edition will not be able to enter.

2. - REGISTRATION

- Registration will open on 10 May 2024 and will end on 15 June 2024, all documents having been sent before the last day.

- After completing the online registration, an email must be sent to info@fimvalencia. com with the ID of all members. It can be in PDFs or images. If a member does not have Spanish nationality, he or she may attach any document proving his or her date of birth. In this same email should be attached a curriculum of the trajectory of the group (concerts, festivals, contests etc. . . ) and should be presented briefly to the members of the group. Please send all documents in the same email.

- Participation in the Pre-selection is free and ends on June 15, 2024 at 23:59. The results of the pre-selection will be notified on 19 June 2024.

- The groups that pass to the FINAL STAGE on July 17, 2024, must deliver to the FIMValencia organization 3 copies of the general scores of the repertoire to be performed.

Participants are requested to hand in copies at least 2 hours before the START of the FINAL PHASE.

3. - PRE-SELECTION

Recording: Registered participants must submit a video recording of the highest quality by 15 June 2024. Recordings can be sent to the organization via a link from YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, Drive or any other platform. In case the organization has problems accessing the link, we will notify you as soon as possible so that it can be solved quickly.

The recording must be taken with a front camera that frames all participants of the group (full body). No cuts or edits are allowed. The quality of the recording, both video and audio, must be suitable for the correct evaluation of the performance.

The repertoire to be performed is free and should last between 2 and 5 minutes (it can be a complete piece or a single movement).

On 19 June 2024, all groups will be notified of the result of the pre-selection.

4. - ACOUSTIC TEST

It will take place on July 16, 2024 from 4 pm in the Vicent Ros Room, Manises, or on the same day 17 if necessary for justified need of some group.

5. - OPENING ACT

It will take place on 16 July 2024. At 8 pm will perform the group Terreta Sax, winner of the 2023 edition of the II International Chamber Music Competition “Ciutat de Manises”. At the end a piscolabis will be performed.

6. - FINAL PHASE

The FINAL PHASE will take place on July 17, 2024. The interpretations will take place in the Sala Vicent Ros, Manises (Valencia) from 18. 00 h.

A maximum of 6 groups will participate in the final stage. Participants will perform in a repertoire of their choice lasting between 15 and 20 minutes. This repertoire should be made up, if possible, of two pieces from different periods and some loose movements from other works if necessary to reach the 15 minutes.

The repertoire does not have to be original for the grouping in question and arrangements may be interpreted.

A representative of each grouping shall be required to present its case briefly.

Contestants shall be responsible for checking the timeliness of their performance. Contestants are requested to respect these time requirements as their non-compliance will be taken into account by the Jury.

The order of interpretation in the competition will be reversed to the order of registration, i. e. the last entrants will be the first to enter the competition.

7. - JURY

The Jury appointed for this purpose will be composed of a member of the organization without the right to vote and 3 national or international artists of FIMValencia 2024, who will be specialists in wood wind, brass wind and strings.

The qualifying jury will take into account the difficulty of the repertoire and the level of the participating groups.

The decision of the court shall not be subject to appeal.

8. - PRIZES

First prize: Accreditation diploma paid with 1,000 € (*).

Second prize: Accreditation diploma paid with 500 € (*).

In any case, the Jury may declare any or all of the designated prizes deserted.

(*) These amounts will be subject to the corresponding percentage reduction in the IRPF established (19%)

The results will be announced and the diplomas awarded after the decision of the jury.

9. - ACCEPTANCE OF THE BASES

The contestants, by the mere fact of participating in the Contest, accept each and every one of the bases of the Contest.

The right to record the sessions and to edit the recording is reserved. The contestants assign their rights as performers, waiving any subsequent claims, provided that the said recording is used for the dissemination of the contest and is not for profit.

The qualifying jury will take into account the difficulty of the repertoire and the level of the participating groups.

The decision of the court shall not be subject to appeal.
